PolicyKathleen Dobler, Natural Resource Specialist at the WNTSC, has provided the following information for us about request policy. I've gotten a couple questions recently on how we handle requests, and I assumed we were all on the same page, and now realize that we're not. So here are the procedures as I understand them and my role & responsibility. When a formal request comes in, to you or to Bruce by email or by snail mail, it is forwarded to you and to me. AFTER you let me know that you can address the request and when, I write a "formal" response to the STC or NEDC or other appropriate management staff for Bruce's signature. You and I get cc'd on these. I will also enter it into the assistance log with a request ID number, and let you fill in the other info. For the time being we are able to address all of the requests that are submitted. In the future I can see we will need to develop a process for prioritization as our services become more popular. I like to also receive a copy of the trip report when it is complete and you have entered it into the assistance log, as it helps me with the follow-through and in developing the quarterly reports. For informal requests you need to enter the info into the assistance log, as you are usually contacted directly and you just handle it. I just do the "bean counting". Right now everyone is entering a separate item for each item of assistance, even when more than one of us is involved, i.e.. Boot Camp. I will consolidate these for the quarterly reports, however they will be tracked separately in the log itself. All formal requests should eventually have a completion date and a report listed/entered in the assistance log. I've found a few that are lacking one or the other and will follow-up with you. The national teams (Stephanie, Greg & Shaun) will need to be handled a little differently and we'll develop their process as well.
Hopefully this clears up some things. If not let me know what I can do to assist you.
